I hope everyone is as pumped for this week as I am. Dr. Seuss will be turning 108 on Friday!! (he’s not dead. he’s with Elvis and Tupac. I’m sure of it)
Perhaps this information is not common knowledge amongst those who associate with people over the age of 3, but it’s a pretty big deal for us preschool teachers. I’m probably going to make the guy a cake. I don’t know if you’ve ever read his books, but they are fantastic. All of them. Every single one of them. Hop on Pop, Green Eggs and Ham, The Cat in the Hat, The Lorax, all of them just as fantastic as the next.
In honor of Dr. Seuss’s birthweek I have attempted to become as great an author as he.
I don’t have a title for my book yet, perhaps you can help me out. But the illustrations are all mine. DON’T STEAL THEM!!
Here it is. My first attempt at authorhood:
The moon is up.
The Sun is down.
I do not like this side of town.
My mom is old,
My shoes are gold.
I wonder why my toes are cold?
Look at that thing over there?
Why does he always glare?
What a jerk that guy right there.
Sometimes when I huff and puff,
I get a booger on my stuff.
Though I never do it in the buff.
My dog likes to sniff around
But only when he’s on the ground.
He is such a crazy hound.
I’d really like some mac and cheese,
I don’t want it with the peas.
But I do like it in the breeze.
I think I watch too much hockey,
I’m starting to get a little cocky.
Oh well, at least I’m not a jockey.
When I grow up I’d like to be,
Something awesome, like a me!
A me is the best thing to be you see!
And now it’s time to bid adieu,
To Drew and Lou and Sue and YOU!
Wasn’t that great? I could be an author right? An author as great as Dr. Seuss for sure. The story line was fantastic and everything made so much sense. The words all rhymed and my illustrations…top notch!*
I’ll let you guys know when it gets published so you can be sure and preorder it!
*Nope. None of that is true, but don’t break my heart and tell me, I’m playing dumb and pretending my story was the greatest
